How to enter

To enter the SAB Sports Media Awards 2011:

1.       Find the work you would like to nominate/enter. Please note a maximum of six entries in each category may be submitted per entrant.

2.       Download your entry form here

3.       More than one entry can be entered per entry form. The onus is on the entrant to ensure that the number of entries per entry form, corresponds to the number of entries submitted.

4.       All nominations can either be entered on a CD/DVD or in the case of printed material as a hardcopy.

a.       All entries can be on one CD/DVD as long as the number of entries on each entry forms corresponds with the number of files on these formats

b.       All online entrants can be submitted along with their corresponding URL’son the entry form.

5.       Submit a high resolution picture of yourself on CD with your entry (this will be used in the AV presentation if you are a finalist).

6.       Submit your original entry, together with the corresponding entry form with your photo on it, via post or hand deliver to address details below before 16th September 2011 by 17h00.

7.       After completing the above steps you would have successfully entered yourself into the awards.

Print entries note
All entrants must please ensure that their entries are submitted in A4 size, i.e. if an article is larger than A4, it should be photocopied onto A4 sheets, with the original article attached.
Please do not submit your entries in a scrapbook or pasted onto board.

Photography entries note
Photographers are asked to send through a portfolio of up to ten photographs with their entries. These pictures have to have been published either in the print media or on the Internet.

New Media entries note

All entrants must please ensure that the entries submitted on the disc/s should ensure that the URL’s entered on the entry form should correspond to the files on the disc/s.

Radio entries note
All entrants must submit edited CDs. In the case of the “Sports Commentator” category, only the beginning – highlights – and the end (approximately 3 minutes per section) should be included. Entrants in the “Sports Presenter of the Year” category should submit at least three slots they presented.

Television entries note

All entrants must submit edited CDs. In the case of the “Sports Commentator” category, only the beginning – highlights – and the end (approximately 3 minutes per section) should be included. Entrants in the “Sports Presenter of the Year” category should submit at least three slots they presented. In the case of “Sports Producer of the Year”, no more than five examples of work produced, should be submitted.

Rules of Entry

  • All individuals are invited to submit their work or nominate others’ work, including editors, managers and/or colleagues.
  • All entries will be judged in the original language they were published or broadcast.
  • The format of the awards is built around five categories (print, photography, new media, radio and television). The overall contributor in each of these categories can be chosen from the sub-category finalists or be an alternative winner.
  • An individual may enter or be nominated in more than one sub-category and in more than one of the main categories (print, photography, new media, radio and television).
  • The same item may be submitted in more than one category, provided you submit a separate entry for each.
  • An individual may submit a maximum of six entries of his/her own work per category.
  • The judging process will be independent of South African Breweries and be fully audited by a registered, impartial, external auditing firm.
  • The judges’ decision is final with all results being made available on request.
